April Fool's Day: Pranks and Superstitions
Wohhiieee!!!Over time, April Fool's Day became a day of general merriment, practical jokes and prank-playing of all kind. Most April Fool's Day pranks are simple and innocent. For instance, telling someone that their "shoe's untied" is a typical prank. So is setting your roommate's alarm clock an hour earlier (or an hour later). Some pranks are more elaborate and can last all day long. Most important, April Fool's Day pranks should NOT be mean-spirited or cause anyone real or enduring embarrassment or physical harm.As you might expect, a number of superstitions are attached to April Fool's Day. For instance, pranks should end by noon—otherwise it could bring bad luck to the perpetrator. And if someone is foolish enough to get married on April Fool's Day…well…it's good for the ladies, but men who tie the knot on that fateful day will be ruled by their wives forever and ever. Ironically, children born on April Fool's Day are said to be blessed with good luck—except when it comes to gambling!
